What are we cooking? 👨🏻‍🍳

Getting musicians to play together is only the first step of our journey.

We want to go far, integrating bars and venues, music studios, labels, organizing events, awarding prizes, providing a platform to everyone with a passion for music to find new and exciting fellow musicians to enjoy making music or easily coordinate among your band or music school classmates, and provide you with a platform to live your music without geographic boundaries.

When you join Jam Nation you are not only empowering yourself with tools to develop your musicianship, you are also casting your vote for a global nation of musicians committed to break through geographic and commercial barriers to live their music in full.

How did everything start?

I am not on socials, but you can find a lot about me (some would say too much) on lucaferrara.com, including how to contact me—and I reply to every email, so, say hello.

  • I have been playing music since I was a teenager (guitar first, than saxophone, then trumpet). Not professionally—I never aspired to be the next Miles Davis—but with enough dedication and passion to jam regularly with friends.

There is nothing quite like the rush of locking in with a rhythm section, trading solos, and feeling the music evolve in real time!

But there was one thing that always got in the way: organizing the damn jam session.

Finding musicians who matched each other’s levels and interests was a challenge in itself. Some were too advanced and impatient, others too casual and unreliable.

Even when the right people were found, coordinating schedules felt like a full-time job. Who was free on which date and time? What tunes were they comfortable with? What keys? Did they have charts? The back-and-forth messages dragged on for days, sometimes weeks—only for someone to cancel last minute. 🤯

  • If musicians could just connect easily—filter by instrument, skill level, availability, repertoire, and more—getting together would be effortless.

I imagined a platform where everything was streamlined: musicians could find each other, confirm sessions, and even track who had played together before.

The idea consumed me. I had never built an app, but I knew the pain points better than anyone.

I spent months sketching out ideas, speaking with musicians, and finding developers who shared my vision.

Slowly, what started as a personal frustration turned into something much bigger: a platform designed to remove all the logistical barriers and let musicians do what they love most—play.

  • That’s how Jam Nation was born.

What started with a single musician’s struggle became a solution for thousands.

Now, in music hubs around the world, players of all levels can connect instantly, join sessions, and build their own musical communities.

No more endless messaging. No more mismatched jams. Just music, the way it was meant to be.

And me? I still play my trumpet (and I am still no Miles Davis), but now, I spend less time organizing and more time doing what I love—jamming 😍

  • There is a long list of people I will be eternally grateful to for all their input, suggestions, help, encouragement, and constructive criticisms.

Thanking everyone is impossible, but here is my best effort, in order of “appearance” (first names only… you guys know who you are!)
